FLSSP Submits Grant Request for Trails Plan

At the start of the 2021 legislative session, Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park submitted a grant request for $250,000 for phase one of the state park's Comprehensive Trails Plan. Currently, the capital expense request is included in the Senate's budget, but not the House budget.

"That's hopeful news," said Zach Hall, legislative aide to Rep. Lisa Callen from District 5. "We hope the House and Senate will agree to put it in the final capital budget." The last day of the legislative session is expected to be April 25.

If the project is approved, FLSSP will be responsible for raising an additional $82,000. The grant would include a crosswalk at the entrance road between the Rotunda and Kitchen Shelter picnic areas and would extend an ADA-accessible trail from behind the Kitchen Shelter to connect with the Orchard Loop trail.
