FRIENDS OF LAKE SAMMAMISH STATE PARK AND REI CO-OP ANNOUNCE 2023 PARTNERSHIP

FLSSP and REI Co-op are excited to announce a partnership for 2023, which includes park improvements and a title sponsorship of Camp S’more.

REI staff and volunteers will work with FLSSP throughout the year on priority park trail improvements and habitat restoration areas identified by State Park staff.  These efforts will increase accessibility and connectivity to the trails and park for entry level hikers, improve the habitat value of the park for wildlife and allow participants of all ages and skills to enjoy greater access to outdoor recreation and the park's wildlife.

REI will be title sponsor of the popular Camp S’more.  Camp S’more is a signature FLSSP event held for first-time campers or those with limited experience who just want a simple night under the stars.  This event will be held August 5-6 at Hans Jensen Park at Lake Sammamish.  REI will offer on-site classes and instruction for campers and provide camping equipment for underserved families participating in the event.

Jayme Jonas, president of FLSSP states "FLSSP is excited to embark on this new partnership with REI.  REI's belief that a life outdoors is a life-well lived mirrors FLSSP's commitment to supporting, promoting and enhancing Lake Sammamish State Park as a place where local residents and visitors can find tremendous opportunities for recreation as well as get the chance to experience and better understand Issaquah's natural environment and native wildlife.  We look forward to working with REI in the park throughout the year and at Camp S'more next summer."
