Welcome Shawn Tobin New Area Manager of Cascade Foothills Region
FLSSP is pleased to welcome Shawn Tobin as the new Cascade Foothills Area Manager. Shawn will have his office at Lake Sammamish State Park and oversee the operations of eight Washington State Parks.
Shawn has worked for Washington State Parks for 24 years. He began as an unpaid intern in 1998, transitioned to a Washington Conservation Corps crewmember and then he became a Park Aide several years later. After working for the National Park Service as a seasonal Law Enforcement Ranger for several seasons, Shawn came back to Washington State Parks as a Park Ranger, primarily serving at Wallace Falls State Park.
In 2014, Shawn became one of several Northwest region managers overseeing the operation of about 24 state parks but in April he decided to step down from that role to improve his work life balance and to have a more direct impact on parks.
With degrees in fish and wildlife science and environmental education and public administration, Shawn brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, boating and photography and lives on an 18-acre horse farm with his wife and our two of their four children.
Shawn is especially looking forward to helping the area Parks make facilities improvements and welcoming all of our diverse communities into WA State Parks.
