Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park Welcomes New Board Members

Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park continues to expand its Board of Directors with two new members. FLSSP is excited to be welcoming new energy and viewpoints onto the Board and we are encouraged by the experience that the new Board Members will bring to our organization. Please join us in welcoming David Kyle and Tiffanny Brooks to the FLSSP Board of Directors.

David is a Program Manager for Trout Unlimited (TU) with more than two decades of experience in the fisheries field.  He came to Washington 7 years ago from CA and began working for TU where he focused on the recovery of native Lake Sammamish Kokanee Salmon.  Based out of Lake Sammamish State Park, David is leading several active restoration projects in the park and more in the basin. He is also leading several research projects to help lower effects to salmon from predators, parasites, and poor water quality in our basin. David’s program oversees the Lake Sammamish Urban Wildlife Refuge Partnership (UWRP) which is a US Fish and Wildlife Service designation for our basin that encourages the connection of communities in the Seattle metro area with this basin to foster future conservationists. In addition to the FLSSP Board, he is an active member of the Salmon Recovery Board and Kokanee Working Group.

Tiffanny joins the Board of FLSSP after having served on the Board of Directors of Washington Wildlife Federation. Growing up, Tiffanny could be found tagging along with her two older brothers, learning how to shoot, fish, and delve into the wild. After earning a BS in English-Writing and a BS in Psychology-Geriatrics, Tiffanny went on to earn a Master of Science in Environmental Education from the previously named Audubon Expedition Institute in New England, where she embarked on a year-and-a-half experiential expedition on a converted school bus studying the Colorado River and its tributaries, the Appalachian Mountains, and the Gulf of Maine. She had the privilege of meeting with loggers, activists, Penobscot Indians, urban justice advocates, as well as many other environmental thought leaders.  Her final semester was spent advocating for water rights on behalf of farmers and Shoshone in Utah. Tiffanny was an outdoor educator and natural history guide for nature expeditions in Utah and Colorado. She also spent the last fifteen years as a volunteer Wilderness Survival Instructor and as a Nature Writing Coach with the Washington Outdoor Women program.  In February, she retired from serving on the Board of Directors for the Washington Wildlife Federation. Tiffanny is thrilled to partner with FLSSP to bring understanding, recreation, conservation, and love to our great treasure, Lake Sammamish Park.

FLSSP is thrilled to be welcoming David and Tiffanny to the Board of Directors and we look forward to working together to make a tangible impact in our community through our work with Lake Sammamish State Park.
