Keeping Lake Sammamish State Park Clean

Thank you to the 170 volunteers who have helped FLSSP clean up the park during these busy summer months! Along with our partners – Lake Sammamish Urban Wildlife Refuge Partnership and Kids Coming Together – we have removed over 820 gallons of trash from the park to date! From youth soccer teams, to Girl Scout Troops, to repeat adult volunteers who enjoy seeing the difference they make, these events have built community and improved local habitats and the park experience for visitors.

Unfortunately, not all visitors to our park "leave no trace" and after a busy weekend, litter can be seen across much of the park. Large and miniscule pieces of trash can harm our cherished wildlife, pollute our waterways, and even injure us as we recreate. Luckily, everyone can help be part of the solution: from young children to grandparents, picking up litter is easy thanks to supplies provided by the UWRP with funding from King County Parks.

Haven’t been able to join us yet? Close out your summer with a Post-Labor Day Clean Up following the busy holiday weekend. A whole suite of Lake Sammamish Urban Wildlife Refuge Partners will be on hand September 5 from 10 am - noon to join in the fun. Sign up to join the clean-up here! After the cleanup, participants are invited to stick around for snacks. Lake Sammamish UWRP partners will have booths set-up to share information about their work and more opportunities to get involved.
