National Public Lands Day

Celebrated across the Unites States on the 4th Saturday of September, National Public Lands Day, is a day to celebrate our connection to our public lands. This year National Public Lands Day will be celebrated this Saturday, September 23rd.

National Public Lands Day is considered the Nation’s largest single day volunteer effort with events scheduled through out our public lands. These events are designed to bring people together to celebrate our open public spaces and to help restore and preserve our public lands for people and wildlife.

National Public Lands Day will be a Discover Pass Free Day at Lake Sammamish State Park. We encourage you to come to Lake Sammamish State Park and to celebrate our public spaces. If you are inspired to help our Friends group restore areas of Lake Sammamish State Park please consider joining one of our restoration event days.

FLSSP will be hosting a restoration event on September 30th and October 21st from 10 am - noon. We are thrilled to be working in our newly adopted restoration site in Lake Sammamish State Park in preparation for planting in November. We welcome you to come help us restore our public state park and celebrate this wonderful space we are so lucky to have in our community.

To register for a FLSSP restoration event please visit our FLSSP events page and lets us know you are coming to help make Lake Sammamish State Park shine. We offer other ways to volunteer as well so if you are interested in other volunteer opportunities please visit our FLSSP volunteer page to learn more.

Happy National Public Lands Day!
