FLSSP Restoration Work at Lake Sammamish State Park
This past October 19th FLSSP was joined by 18 volunteers at our Tibbetts Creek site to clear non-native blackberry bushes and plant 100+ native trees and shrubs. Our volunteers braved the rain and mud to get over 100 native trees and shrubs into the ground. Beyond the planting, our volunteers successfully cleared out blackberry around existing trees and shrubs as well as on the sides of the site.
FLSSP has been working in this 1.5+ acre site for just over a year now and we are proud of the progress our volunteers and community have made to restore this site. FLSSP will continue our work at the Tibbetts site on November 16th where we will be working to remove more blackberry, mulch the area for the coming winter season, and live stake trees to help shade out the non-native grasses.
