Summer at Lake Sammamish State Park

Summer is officially upon us, and with summer we usher in the busiest season at Lake Sammamish State Park. More than 2 million people visit the park each year, with most of those visitors coming during the warm summer months. We encourage you to come to Lake Sammamish to experience the two public beaches, short jaunts on the park trails, and a day of fun-filled family picnics.

Part of the joy of Lake Sammamish State Park in the summer is the two beaches that call us to get into the water. If you are interested in trying out a water sport, but don’t have the equipment you can try a rental with our friends at Issaquah Paddle Sports. They offer rental equipment for a variety of water activities at Lake Sammamish State Park.  To see availability or to reserve your equipment and time please visit Issaquah Paddle Sports here.

Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park is also excited to introduce our readers to Outdoors for All.  Outdoors for All is a Seattle based non-profit dedicated to transforming the lives of children and adults with disabilities through outdoor recreation. They have opened a brand new Adaptive Cycling Center at Lake Sammamish State park where people with disabilities ages 7 and up can come ride a bike that works for them for no charge. The cycling center is open 7 days a week from 10am to 6pm, and they can get almost anyone on a trike, handcycle, or tandem! Find the Adaptive Cycling Center at the East end of the Sunset Beach Bathhouse (opposite end from the concession stand) at Lake Sammamish State Park. Learn more about Outdoors for All here.

While visiting the park this summer, we also want to encourage you to celebrate this park by living by the principles of “leave no trace” to protect this asset into the future. We all have a responsibility to share and protect the future of this place by appropriately disposing of garbage, gently using its resources, and being respectful of its natural features. If you are interested in helping us maintain this beautiful place, please join us, or one of our partners, at a weekly summer litter pickup this season! Find upcoming dates on our calendar here.

Additionally, Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park will be hosting a few fun summer adventures that you won’t want to miss. Camp S’more, a FLSSP tradition, will be held August 10-11th at Hans Jensen Group Camp. You won’t want to miss our yearly camp out with fun camp games, campfire sing along and storytelling. Register here today! We will also be hosting ARTDoors a fun drop in art filled event that encourages your creative side while at the park. If you are interested in attending ArtDoors please see our events page here.

To keep up to date with all our FLSSP hosted events at the park or to learn more about what is happening at the park this summer please sign up for our monthly newsletter here and follow us on Facebook or Instagram.
