Celebrate Kokanee 2016 in Issaquah on Earth Day
It's almost that time again to celebrate our favorite little red fish with this year's annual kokanee event. “Celebrate Kokanee 2016” will be held on Fry-day, April 22 at 11:30 am at Confluence Park in Issaquah. This year our Lake Sammamish Kokanee will be introduced into Issaquah Creek and all are invited to help send them off. The address is 595 Rainier Blvd. N, Issaquah, WA 98027 The Snoqualmie Tribe will send the new Kokanee off with a blessing. Local area school children and dignitaries and other members of the Kokanee Work Group — including Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park — will be on hand to share information about the work that is being done to conserve and enhance this endangered species of salmon.
Volunteers are being sought for this event. If you would like to help with set-up (10 a.m.) or take-down (2 p.m.), please reach out to Heather Van Dorn at VanDornH@yahoo.com or contact Brad Book at BradBook@webtv.net
