Meet Peter Walters – new state park program specialist

Peter has just joined the park staff as the new program specialist. He will have his hands full working on programs and community connections for 7 local state parks – but there has never been a full time person doing this before! Peter grew up in Michigan and graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a degree in Kinesiology with a specialization in Exercise Physiology. While in Michigan he ran an after school/summer program for at-risk youth in the Grand Rapids area.

“While it was a tough decision to leave the students I work with, I saw a great opportunity in Issaquah. There is a stunning beauty to the city along with great opportunities for recreational activities. I have always enjoyed hiking, camping, kayaking, and nature in general. I hope to help provide exciting events and programs for Lake Sammamish State Park and the other nearby state parks.”
