The public is invited to Spawning Grounds, a new feature documentary that chronicles a critical season in the life of the Lake Sammamish kokanee, a unique but little-known population of landlocked salmon with immense cultural and ecological importance.
The film traces the efforts of Tribal educators, scientists, landowners and community leaders to work together to save this rare native salmon despite developmental pressure. Written and directed by an Emmy® Award-winning team of filmmakers, Spawning Grounds captures a unique and hopeful story at the intersection of urban growth and environmental preservation. Partners in this community-based effort will be in attendance to share their perspective on the work and the importance of community action and support.
Film run time is approximately one hour, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
