Between the serene setting and action-packed matches, beach volleyball fans have come to look forward to the AVP Seattle Open at Lake Sammamish State Park held in June. But not this year, another casualty of the Covid-19 outbreak. The 2020 AVP Seattle Open would have marked the fourth stop on the tour, bringing a conclusion to the first half of the season. This tournament usually brings fierce competition from first serve to last. With four different teams, on both the men and women’s side, the action is non-stop. As bald eagles soar in the background, players competed to take home the Space Needle AVP trophy—the ultimate beach volleyball prize in the Pacific Northwest. We hope to see AVP return in 2021, as beach volleyball athletes prepare to compete in the delayed Summer Olympics
