Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park is excited to partner with Kids Coming Together and the Lake Sammamish Urban Wildlife Refuge Partnership (UWRP) to help keep our local state park clean this summer! Our organizations will be hosting weekly community litter pickups from June through September to keep our park and local waterways trash free and to help support park maintenance staff.
Over 2 million people visit Lake Sammamish State Park each year, and many of those visitors come during the peak summer season. Crowds are drawn on warm, sunny days to Sunset and Tibbetts Beaches, the All-Access Playground, park trails and picnic areas. Unfortunately, not all visitors "leave no trace" and after a busy weekend, litter can be seen across much of the park. You can help! Thanks to funding from King County Parks, UWRP will provide supplies that make litter pickup easy for volunteers of all ages, including buckets, gloves and "pickers." Join us this summer to help keep our park beautiful and keep the habitat for its wildlife clean!
