FLSSP Welcomes New Board Member Jayme Jonas
Jayme Jonas, who was born and raised on the Eastside, grew up playing at Lake Sammamish State Park . After earning a Bachelors in Economics at Linfield University and a Masters in Urban Planning at the University of Washington, she came back to Sammamish to raise a family.
Jayme worked as a long-range city planner for the City of Redmond before becoming a stay-at-home parent several years ago. In addition to a variety of volunteer roles focused on education, sustainability and affordable housing, Jayme is excited to join Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park to help promote the park to our community.
Jayme insists that ”getting residents and visitors alike into the park to enjoy the playground, attend events, explore the trails and beaches and discover native flora and fauna is a great way to connect people to their environment. Fostering a connection to the land is crucial to preserving our open spaces and natural areas around us.” In addition to enjoying LSSP with her family, she hopes to visit all of the state parks in Washington.
