Support FLSSP Today and Build Our Community Together
Over 2 million visitors yearly cherish Lake Sammamish State Park. It’s a haven for outdoor recreation enthusiasts, provides some of the only public access to the lake, and plays a vital role as an urban refuge for wildlife and fish. A decade ago, FLSSP emerged as a catalyst for positive change, aligning with the vision of State Parks to enhance visitors’ park experience. Through direct financial support of park improvement projects and conservation efforts, hosting community events, and fostering environmental education and arts programming, we’ve made a collective tremendous impact on our community.
In the past year, your direct contributions to FLSSP helped our community accomplish:
In the spirit of community engagement and education, we’ve welcomed over 2000 people at diverse events within the park, including Polar Plunge, Walk n Wag, Camp S’more, ArtDoors, plant identification and park history walks, and more.
Through partnership with local artists, we’ve added permanent and functional art to the park in the form of custom designed acoustic panels in the fully-enclosed Meadow Shelter, to enhance the visual experience and address acoustical issues.
Our volunteers have actively participated in monthly habitat restoration events dedicated to enhancing the beauty and sustainability of Tibbetts Creek. Together, we’ve removed invasive weeds, planted over 200 native plants and added mulch for growth and longevity of these riparian habitats. Volunteers also helped us redesign and replant the garden at the front entrance of the park, improving sight-lines for drivers and creating a space that will be a sight to behold year-round.
Partnering with other like-minded organizations, we’ve hosted near-weekly summer litter pickup events which have resulted in the removal of over 500 gallons of trash, contributing to the cleanliness and vitality of the Park.
As we reflect on the strides made in enhancing Lake Sammamish State Park, FLSSP seeks your partnership to sustain this momentum. Our goal is to raise $15,000 by year-end, and while this might appear ambitious for our tight-knit community, we believe in the power of collective action. Join us in making a lasting impact with a year-end gift to FLSSP. Imagine the ripple effect when just 100 individuals come together in support. To amplify your contribution, consider reaching out to your employer for a matching donation.
