Thank You for Helping FLSSP Restore a Portion of the Park

FLSSP and friends came together to make our last restoration event of the year the biggest volunteer event we have hosted in 2024 - thank you! We had over 60 people join us this past Saturday to move 20 cubic feet of mulch, cage around young trees to protect them from deer this winter, and put in some new plantings to help restore a site near Tibbetts Creek.

We have been working at this Tibbetts Creek site for just over a year to help clear the area of non-natives like invasive blackberry and plant new native trees and shrubs to help restore the area for better wildlife and fish habitat. Over the course of this project we have planted over 200+ trees and shrubs on this site, removed countless invasive blackberry, moved many cubic feet of mulch, spent hours caging trees to protect them from browsing, and tried new techniques to shade out reed canary grass. We are proud of our accomplishments this past year as we continue to work to restore Lake Sammamish State Park!

Thank you to the youth group from the Bellevue Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and other volunteers for all their hard work this past weekend! We would also like to thank SanMar and Dark Horse Printing for helping contribute to FLSSP's first ever Restoration T-shirts!
