Come Visit Lake Sammamish State Park in March

March is a transition month between winter and spring making it an exciting time to visit the park to capture the quiet of winter, but the awakening of spring. Flowers and trees are beginning to bloom and set leaves. Birds and other wildlife are becoming more active. Yet, the park is still in the quiet of its winter season without the hustle and bustle of the summer time crowds. Now is the time to wander the paths and along the shorelines to take in what makes Lake Sammamish State Park so special.

This March there are two fee free days where a Discover Pass is not required to visit Lake Sammamish State Park. I encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities to come and explore the park with your family and friends. Discover Pass free days in March 2024 are March 9th in honor of Billy Frank Juniors Birthday and March 19 in honor of the 111th birthday of State Parks. To learn more about Discover Pass free days please visit the WA State Parks page here.

March 30th is also designated as Talk a Walk in the Park Day to celebrate the health and well being offered by a simple stroll in a local park. One of the benefits of our public lands that are so often overlooked is the health benefits that these open natural spaces provide for people. Parks offer stress relief, climate refuge, exercise spaces and so much more. Come celebrate this wonderful oasis on March 30th by talking a walk at Lake Sammamish State Park. We would love to see what you find on your walk through the park so tag FLSSP in your pictures!
