Joe Forkner elected FLSSP President and Sherwin, Davidson join Board of Trustees
Last month, the Board of Directors held its annual election of officers. Joe Forkner moved into the President’s role while past-president Chris Kovac remains active as vice-president. Jim Berry and Norah Carse were reelected to their respective roles as treasurer and secretary.Just in time for the board’s first retreat, John Sherwin and Nancy Davidson were elected to the board of trustees. John lives in Issaquah and works for Microsoft. He has been very active as a volunteer helping develop and maintain the FLSSP website. Nancy was chair of the state park’s task force that helped develop the master plan more than 10 years ago, is a past Issaquah City Council member and is currently Public Works Director for the City of Snoqualmie. She lives in Bellevue.

Rowley Properties, hotels give boost to playground funding
Rowley Propoerties, Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites have collectively donated $20,000 to Project Playground, leading the way in local donations.“Lake Sammamish State Park has the potential to be an amazing treasure. FLSSP has been working hard to help revitalize, embrace and activate the park. Their work has been inspiring and it is our pleasure to help them fund a new amenity at the park which will benefit our community-the Playground 4 All. We hope you’ll donate, too,” said Skip Rowley.
Restoration Project needs you! Saturday, Dec. 5, 9:30 a.m.
Come volunteer for the Living Laboratory, a restoration project at Lake Sammamish State Park! Volunteers will assist with removing invasive species from an area near the lake shore. Come get your hands dirty, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and help us create a healthier, more beautiful park!
