Walk'n Wag Dog Walk & Show
The 3rd annual Walk’n Wag at Lake Sammamish State Park will have some new features this year. A K-9 handler from King County Sherriff’s Dept. will showcase dog obedience at 11 a.m., followed by questions and answers. A judged dog show will follow at 11:30 a.m. Both events will happen at Sunset Beach, near the playground.
Walk’n Wag is an intriguing 3k all-access trail for dogs and walkers to explore the park, beginning at Tibbetts Beach. Dog agility props along the way will make it fun for pets, and telescope heron viewing with a park ranger will be of special interest for people.
The dog show is open for entry when you register for Walk’n Wag. Categories include best dressed, smallest dog, best eyes, dog/owner look alike, and best trick. Walkers, dog lovers and park visitors alike are welcome to Doggie Village, where pet-friendly vendors will share information and services. Pet owners will receive a goodie bag as they complete their walk. All dogs must be on a leash.
Pre-register by March 10 to receive a Walk’n Wag keepsake travel dog food bowl. Registration is $15 for children 15 and younger, $20 for adults, or $50 for a family of four. To register, go to www.EventBrite.com and search for Walk’n Wag. Registration will also be available at the event.
Walk’n Wag is presented by Alpine Animal Hospital, co-sponsored by Grange Supply. The dog show is sponsored by All the Best Pet Care Issaquah. Walk’n Wag is a canine-inspired fundraiser hosted by Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park. Proceeds benefit new amenities and beautification projects at Lake Sammamish State Park.
