The May Salmon, Science & Suds will feature speaker John McMillan, Trout Unlimited’ s Steelhead Biologist who will give an update on the recovery of the Elwah River. The Elwha River, located just west of Port Angeles, WA, historically supported large salmon and steelhead runs until it was dammed in 1913. The river was recently “un-dammed” with the largest dam removal project in history and stream and native fish populations are responding. The event starts at 6:30pm with 30 minutes for networking; John McMillan will speak at 7:00pm.
Salmon, Science & Suds speakers address water quality, healthy fish populations, and habitat restoration. The series is offered to share interesting research and initiatives currently improving the health of the Sammamish watershed to the entire community. The evening will also include a raffle, great food and beer and good company.
