Community Art Project: Conservation Education Through Art
The Recycled Art Project is a salmon constructed entirely from tin cans. More than 100 children in Issaquah helped to create the sculpture under the guidance of artist Gabi Philips.
The Recycled Art Project: Conservation Education through Art
Parkadilly 2017 attendees are helping to create the final Recycled Art Tree Structure. This year visitors will also be encouraged to help out by attaching the painted scales of the salmon to the sculpture. Additionally, information about local salmon population, conservation projects and their success will be displayed around the art piece to provide some local environmental information.

Low numbers of Lake Sammamish kokanee raise fears of extinction
Only 19 kokanee salmon returned to spawn this year. A striking ebb in the number of Kokanee salmon in Lake Sammamish, just east of Seattle, has officials worried that extinction is around the corner.
